Emmaus Hampshire

Emmaus Hampshire tackles homelessness by providing accommodation, job opportunities and support to people in Hampshire.

Emmaus Hampshire briefed 360 to improve the charity’s media presence and public profile to:

  • drive donations of furniture and other goods to the stores
  • improve customer footfall at its stores
  • generate a wider volunteer pool
  • facilitate easier planning discussions

360 created a wide range of stories based on unusual donations, the work of its volunteers and the success it has equipping formerly homeless people for independent living. We also created other PR opportunities, such as awards and special events and by providing expert, topical comment on homeless issues.

We secured 10 story placements in local media – including 3 features in local lifestyle magazines – during the first 8 months.

In one specific instance, we proposed one of the charity’s volunteers to switch on the Winchester Christmas Lights in November 2018. The weekend after the switch-on and associated media coverage saw the busiest ever trading in the Winchester store.

Coverage from a ‘fake or fortune’ story about a potential Romano Mussolini painting placed in local media also directly resulted in around £1,000 worth of art sales for the charity.
