This is a textbook example of a fast turnaround launch project.
In November 2015, Age UK Mid Hampshire approached us to manage the communications aspects of its launch.
What we did for them
The charity had been formed by the merger of two successful independent charities, Age UK Winchester and Age UK Andover and District. The merger enabled the charities to share assets, unite their efforts and improve the reach of their services to older people throughout Mid Hampshire, including the previously unsupported areas of Eastleigh and East Hampshire.
Internal communications had already started in a piecemeal fashion, so 360 integrated PR worked within a tight timeframe and budget to:
Create a communications strategy to engage all stakeholders
Develop a key messaging platform
Research and write a ‘Vision and Values’ document which became the centrepiece of the launch
Invite key business, media and local authority figures to the launch event, which was organised by Age UK Mid Hampshire at Winchester’s Discovery Centre
Prepare media kits and handle media relations, including follow-up
Brief all trustees on the communications and messaging prior to the launch
- The event was well attended and positive feedback received about the scope of the charity’s activities and its growth plans.
- Age UK Mid Hampshire staff and trustees are using the agreed communications platform and the brochure for individual follow-up meetings with a variety of partners.
- Regional media reported the launch event and the reasons behind the forming of the new charity to boost awareness among volunteers, service users and their families
Our design and print colleagues at Sarsen Press in Winchester also deserve credit for their quick turnaround of the launch materials.
